Drummer Alex Kirst, a member of Iggy Pop’s band and The Nymphs, was the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident in California on Jan. 13.
Kirst was found by officers after they received a call from a passerby who thought Kirst had passed out from intoxication. Officers say that Kirst was struck by a white Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon as he was on the side of Date Palm Road in Cathedral City, Calif. Reports show that the vehicle did not brake.

Iggy was in Barney’s of NYC to promote his T-shirt line, Archive 1887. Iggy tells Rolling Stone, “There’s tons of irony, especially since I made the cover of The Onion with a shopping cart, saying that I’m the only one allowed to enter supermarkets shirtless!”
In other Iggy Pop news, he is keeping himself busy with working on the re-issue of his indie record “Kill City.” The album, a very personal and important work to Iggy, is scheduled to hit shelves October 19, 2010. (Read More…)

The Stooges, aka Iggy and the Stooges, will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 2010.
In order to qualify for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, bands have to be credited with influence/significance in rock and roll, and they also have to have a span of 25 years between the time they first released an album and the present.
The Stooges have widely been credited with the rise of instrumental punk rock, and their first album, “The Stooges,” was released in 1969. For nearly 30 years–since 1974–The Stooges tickets were extinct. However, the group reformed in 2003 and released an album titled “The Weirdness” in 2007.
Other 2010 inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame include ABBA, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff and The Hollies.
